A. There are many important reasons why England and the Netherlands developed effective Capitalist economies while Spain did not. In Spain, there were economic and political factors that contributed to its downhill problems. Economically, Spanish trade decreased drastically as well as its population. The political estate of Spain slowly decreased because of some ruling dynasties. Meanwhile in England and the Netherlands, they saw a rise in the development of their economies which maintained their economic status by such factors as Constitutionalism and the Commercial Revolution.
1.) Spain created many problems for itself in main ways, which had a very strong impact on its economic decline.
2.) England saw a boost in its economy in ways that contributed to the boost of an effective Capitalist economy in the country.
3.) The Netherlands also experienced a strong rise in its economic status to a huge extent, which also led to an effective Capitalist economy.
B. 1a.) Population decreased in 1660 from 7.5 million to 5.5 million people.

1d.) The Price Revolution caused an inflation which hurt Spanish industries that were unable to export goods.
1e.) Spain also had an inefficient financial system where its taxation ruined the industry and agriculture of the country.
2a.) Constitutionalism in England ensured limited power the government had over the people.
2b.) Commercial Revolution brought economic expansion, colonialism, and mercantilism.
2c.) Capitalism led to social nobility in the economy such as the gentry, which as a result, people moved up in social class
2d.) One of the first documents to limit power of the king was the Magna Carta, which led to a higher social influence in England.
3d.) The Netherlands had the wealthiest trading city, Amsterdam.
3b.) In 1602, the Dutch East India Company was founded which was the first ever multinational corporation and brought huge profits from receiving a monopoly on Asian trade.
3c.) Spices were imported which brought profit and an increase in the economy.
3d.) National industries expanded which led to the utilization of more land and as a result production increased.
C. 1.) Spain’s economy saw an utter decay which led to many problems in its economy, but meanwhile in England they were seeing a much contrasting effect.
2.) The English weren’t the only economically beneficial country at that time, the Netherlands also saw a huge effective economy.
3.) The Netherlands among other countries saw a highly advancing political and economic stage, which led to its strong development of a Capitalist economy.
D. After many of the diminishing defeats and problems, Spain suffered a withering decay in its economy. At the same time in England and the Netherlands, it was the complete opposite, and saw a huge flourish in both of their Capitalist economies. Their economic success would continue to impact Europe for many years to come. | |
